Edge of Darkness trailer

Definitely nice to see Mel Gibson back on the screen. A bit more leathery since SIGNS, perhaps, but still very much a movie star. Dodgy Boston accent and all.

In the thriller EDGE OF DARKNESS, Gibson is a Beantown homicide detective investigating his own daughter’s death and uncovering high-level corruption (which, as it tends to do, probably goes all the way to the top). Ray Winstone plays a government “cleaner” sent to handle the matter in the way that shady movie government types do.

The movie comes from CASINO ROYALE director Martin Campbell (based on his BBC series) and THE DEPARTED writer William Monahan, so the twists and setting aren’t a surprise. It’s set for release on January 29th, 2010.
