Eli Roth

Well, that was fast. It was only a couple of weeks ago when we learned that the long-in-development shark thriller MEG found a home at Warner Bros., giving it new life. Now, according to Variety, Eli Roth is in talks to direct the film and will hopefully get this thing off the ground after nearly 20 years in development; it's about damn time!

The novel is about two men who band together to neutralize an ancient shark that’s threatening the California coast. The Megaladon, considered one of the largest and most powerful predators in history, can reach a maximum length of 60 feet. There is a slight change in the film, however, as the site goes on to say that shark will terrorize China rather than California, which is a move that will help bring on Gravity Pictures as a co-financier. Hey, whatever works.

Belle Avery will produce through her banner Atelles Entertainment, and Colin Wilson is producing the pic through Maedey Productions from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris based on the Steve Alten novel. Gerald Molen and Randy Greenberg are exec producing.
