Eli Roth’s History of Horror is coming back to AMC for another season

Eli Roth's History of Horror

Last year, AMC aired a seven episode documentary series called Eli Roth's History of Horror. The show went over well with viewers (our own Alex Maidy gave it an 8/10 review), and the episodes are now available to watch through the Shudder streaming service, which also has a podcast of interviews that were conducted for the show. Since the 2019 Halloween season came and went without any word of History of Horror continuing, it was looking like the show was a one season thing… But that's not the case.

AMC has finally announced that they have renewed the series for a six episode second season. It's sort of disappointing to hear that the second season will be one episode shorter than its predecessor, but the two episode counts will add up to a total of thirteen, which is a fine number for a horror show.

Roth had this to say about the renewal:

I’m so thrilled to be continuing this historic series with AMC. In Season 1, we had the most incredible conversations with the top creators in the field who really helped fans around the world appreciate the horror genre in a new light. We look forward to going even deeper in Season 2, bringing out the A-listers to share their stories with everyone for all-time and adding more and more films to the canon. AMC is the perfect network to partner with on a passion project like this and we can’t wait to get started."

Subjects covered in the second season will include "magic-wielding witches, misshapen monsters, and infamously evil youngsters."

Roth executive produces History of Horror with Kurt Sayenga, Steven Michaels, Jonathan Koch, Joseph Freed, and Allison Berkley.
