Elijah Wood & Rainn Wilson fight off zombie children in the Cooties trailer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

The trick with zombie movies is that survivors always underestimate their flesh-eating counterparts. That's definitely going to be the case with COOTIES, where a mysterious virus hits an isolated elementary school, transforming the kids into a feral swarm of mass savages. A motley crew of teachers, including Elijah Wood and Rainn Wilson, must fight for their lives in order to survive. If ever there were a genre film deserving of a red-band trailer, but alas, we'll have to settle for this!

COOTIES actually sounds like a fun premise, as I can imagine there's all sorts of aggression teachers could take out on their tiny students, but advance word hasn't been all that great. This flick actually premiered at Sundance of LAST year (you can check out Eric Walkuski's review here), and the picture painted thus far hasn't been pretty. Still, word is that the ending was reshot, so maybe they were able to tighten up the film in a few places. Hey, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt! I only ask for one kid decapitation to make this a worthwhile watch from me. Maybe two.

COOTIES will see a limited theatrical and On-Demand release on September 18, 2015.
