Elijah Wood leads a delightfully deranged trailer for Come to Daddy

While everybody and their grandmother is waiting for Christopher Nolan to drop the first official trailer for his upcoming espionage thriller TENET, Saban Films has decided to unleash a truly bizarre promo of their own for COME TO DADDY, a seemingly demented horror-comedy starring everyone's favorite Hobbit, Elijah Wood.

The story focuses on a nebbish character by the name of Norval Greenwood (Wood), a privileged man-child who arrives at the beautiful and remote coastal cabin of his estranged father (McHattie). He quickly discovers that not only is dad a jerk, but he also has a shady past that is rushing to catch up with both of them. Now, hundreds of miles from his cushy comfort zone, Norval must battle with demons, both real and perceived, in order to reconnect with a father he barely knows.

Directing this strange bit of cinema based on his own idea is TURBO KID producer Ant Timpson, with Toby Harvard (THE GREASY STRANGLER, TROPICAL COP TALES) having penned the screenplay. Meanwhile, starring in this f*cked up tale of familial bonding through murder are Elijah Wood, Stephen McHattie, Martin Donovan, Michael Smiley, Madeleine Sami, and Simon Chin.

While the trailer for COME TO DADDY is bound to hit some people the wrong way, I find that it's ticking all of my boxes and then some. Truth be told, I'm a huge fan of Elijah Wood, especially after he starred in the wickedly weird BBC series DICK GENTLY'S HOLISTIC DETECTIVE AGENCY. If you've never seen that show, be sure to check it out, at least for the first season. It's ceaselessly quirky, full of surprises, and is one of the strangest episodic excursions I've come across in the past decade. I highly recommend it, obviously.

You can peep the new poster for COME TO DADDY below, and be sure to check the movie out when it arrives in select theaters nationwide and is made available on VOD and Digital on February 7, 2020.
