Elizabeth Banks will direct & star in Universal’s Invisible Woman

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Well, this is surprising news. It looks like CHARLIE'S ANGELS director and BRIGHTBURN and SLITHER star Elizabeth Banks will be directing and starring in INVISIBLE WOMAN for Universal. THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson will pen the script based on an original pitch by Banks who will also produce along with Max Handelman. Alison Small will executive produce.

While the plot of this new take on the classic H.G. Well's tale is under tight wraps it's said that Bank's INVISIBLE WOMAN will be very different than Blumhouse and writer-director Leigh Whannell's THE INVISIBLE MAN starring Elisabeth Moss, and there is no crossover potential for the films.

What do you think of this news? Are you up for two new INVISIBLE movies? Let us know below!

Meanwhile, Blumhouse's THE INVISIBLE MAN tells the tale of

Cecilia Kass (Elisabeth Moss) who escapes her violent, controlling relationship with a wealthy and brilliant scientist in the dead of night and disappears into hiding, aided by her sister (Harriet Dyer), their childhood friend (Aldis Hodge) and his teenage daughter (Storm Reid). But when Cecilia’s abusive ex (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) commits suicide and leaves her a generous portion of his vast fortune, Cecilia suspects his death was a hoax. As a series of eerie coincidences turn lethal, threatening the lives of those she loves, Cecilia’s sanity begins to unravel as she desperately tries to prove that she is being hunted by someone nobody can see.

Blumhouse's THE INVISIBLE MAN is written and directed by Leigh Whannell who is also executive producing. Jason Blum produces with Kylie du Fresne for Goalpost Pictures in association with Nervous Tick, for Universal Pictures. INVISIBLE MAN is set to reach theatres on February 28, 2020
