It’s tough to feel sorry for actors whinning about not getting paid enough, especially when they make millions of dollars over the course of a few months. Most times their just greedy bitches, but in this case- it sounds like he has a point.
Cary Elwes is suing the filmmakers of the smash-hit SAW for a breach of contract- supposedly they promised him a cut of the box office profits (around $102.9 million worldwide), a lump sum that he has yet to see. Apparently Elwes has only been paid $53,275 from the profits, where his co-star Monica Potter has recieved more than $250,000. That’s a HUGE difference!
From the filed lawsuit, it pretty much sounds like Leigh Whannell, James Wan and the rest of the producers are making out like bandits- so why the cold shoulder to Elwes?
According to Elwes, he was promised more money than he had ever made before by starring in SAW, yet from the sounds of it, it doesn’t look like he’s made squat.
