We’re getting this week started with a new episode of our video series WTF Happened to This Horror Movie?, and in this episode we’re looking back at David Lynch‘s 1977 feature directorial debut, the surreal horror film Eraserhead (watch it HERE)! To find out all about the making of Lynch’s first movie, check out the video embedded above.

Also scripted by Lynch, Eraserhead has the following synopsis:

Henry resides alone in a bleak apartment surrounded by industrial gloom. When he discovers that an earlier fling with Mary X left her pregnant, he marries the expectant mother and has her move in with him. Things take a decidedly strange turn when the couple’s baby turns out to be a bizarre lizard-like creature that won’t stop wailing. Other characters, including a disfigured lady who lives inside a radiator, inhabit the building and add to Henry’s troubles.

The film stars Jack Nance, Charlotte Stewart, Allen Joseph, Jeanne Bates, Judith Roberts, Laurel Near, V. Phipps-Wilson, Jack Fisk, Jean Lange, Thomas Coulson, John Monez, Darwin Joston, Neil Moran, Hal Landon Jr., Jennifer Lynch, Brad Keeler, Peggy Lynch, Doddie Keeler, Gill Dennis, Toby Keeler, and Raymond Walsh.

This is what the WTF Happened to This Horror Movie series is all about:

Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster, but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?

The Eraserhead episode of WTF Happened to This Horror Movie was Written by Matthew Pejkovic, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
