Erik Van Looy’s The Loft pulled from schedule; will it ever come out?

Maybe we’ll never actually enter THE LOFT.

Erik Van Looy’s remake of his own Belgian thriller, starring James Marsden and Karl Urban, has been taken off the release calendar by Universal Pictures. It was scheduled to come out on August 29th but, as we told you earlier, Universal pushed AS ABOVE, SO BELOW into that slot. THE LOFT has not been given a new date.

For those keeping tabs at home, THE LOFT has been sitting on the shelf for over two years. It was filmed in 2011 but didn’t have a home until Joel Silver’s Dark Castle picked it up in June 2012. Last summer, Universal gave it the August 29, 2014 release date, but obviously they’ve thought better of it.

THE LOFT follows five married friends who decide to rent a loft together where they can bring their mistresses. When the body of an unknown woman is found in the loft, they realize that they don’t know each other as well as they thought and begin to suspect one another of murder.

Eric Stonestreet, Rachael Taylor, Matthias Schoenaerts, Wentworth Miller, Rhona Mitra and Isabel Lucas also star in THE LOFT, which will no doubt end up going straight to VOD at some point. Check out the trailer below.
