There are few names that can whip genre fans into frenzy like the lovely Lena Headey. The actress has garnered not only critical praise but a massive fanboy love with her work as Cersei Lannister in “Game of Thrones.” Add to that she kicked serious ass in DREDD. She was terrific in the short-lived but highly enjoyable “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” and of course, she earned some serious love for her performance as Queen Gorgo in Zack Snyder’s 300 opposite Gerald Butler. Well, thankfully she returns for 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE and frankly this may have been better than the first just for sheer over the top fun.

The moment I walked into the room to chat with Ms. Headey, she heard the name JoBlo.com and seemed excited. When I asked if she liked our site she replied quickly that she does. She added that we have been very kind to her. Well how could we not? She is the real deal who also happens to love working in the world of sci-fi, fantasy and horror. During our conversation we talked about why these genres appealed to her. We also discussed which character she felt had more strength, Gorgo or Cersei. She is funny, charming and beautiful… what is not to love?

300: RISE OF THE EMPIRE opens this Friday at a theatre near you.
