DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is an epic and emotional tale. It is an astonishing spectacle with an equally impressive human drama. It seems us though movie fans can give a little thanks to the wonderful work of director Matt Reeves. From CLOVERFIELD to LET ME IN, he continues to expand his work and his latest is certainly his best, and most assuredly one of this year’s best films as well. From the look of it, the franchise is in very capable hands.

When I sat down with Mr. Reeves at Crissy Fields in San Francisco on a foggy Friday afternoon, we discussed the human drama. The detail he gave each answer was incredible, making the passion he has for this story very clear. He talked about why he made certain choices regarding not having villains as well as treating ape characters with as much care as the humans. He also chatted about the future of the series and why he felt this chapter in the Apes progression was important. DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is a must see and it opens this Friday at a theatre near you.
