Exclusive 1:1 Interview: Straight Outta Compton Director F. Gary Gray!

Creating a cinematic retelling of N.W.A. could have been an impossible task. To truly bring the music to life, as well as the legendary behind-the-scenes battles, it must have been an incredible challenge. Thankfully, filmmaker F. Gary Gray stepped in. Not only has the director a terrific long standing working relationship with Ice Cube, he has the ability to tap into music thanks to his music video work. And thanks to that, we have the gritty and thrilling STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON.

Recently, we sat down with the director to chat about the film. You can always tell when the cast and crew is honestly exited about a project, and this is one to be excited about. The director talked about casting the very iconic rap artists (including Ice Cube's own son O'Shea Jackson Jr. playing his father). He also discussed the challenging task of putting this all together and what stories to tell. It was a huge pleasure to talk to all involved. STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON opens this Friday at a theatre near you.
