A few weeks ago, we brought you the awesome news that we’re hosting an EVIL DEAD MARATHON in L.A. on Thursday, April 4th at the Regency Westwood Village Theatre (961 Broxton Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90024). (GET YOUR TICKETS HERE). Yes, Sam Raimi’s original trilogy plus Fede Alvarez’s remake, all swallowing your soul in one bloody good night filled with props from the film and stars. What’s not to love?

Today we’re happy to bring along a few exclusive details regarding the Dead-fest: We have our first confirmation on special guests! The lovely ladies of the EVIL DEAD, Theresa Tilly, Ellen Sandweiss and Betsy Baker, will be giving a much desired Q&A after the screening of the first film! They will also be bringing goodies for fan giveaway, so the first film in a glorious 35mm is one not to be missed!

In addition, the fest is holding a short, under-one-minute video contest, where the winner will get a free fest pass to the marathon. I’ll let the festival’s organizers handle the announcement:

We’re looking for editors, filmmakers and just plain movie geeks who have a love of all things Evil Dead to get some! We’re asking for folks to make a cool advertisement no more than a minute in length. A video that has all the info about the Westwood Evil Dead Fest packed with cool footage from all four films. No restrictions with the exception of the fact that it has to contain the who, what, why, where and when of the fest details – the rest is up to your twisted Ash imagination.

Contest opens now and will end on Thursday, March 13! Simply post your video on YouTube and send the link and your contact info (in case you win!) to Criticcoleman@yahoo.com and we’ll check it out! Winner will not only get a free pass to the April 4th Westwood Evil Dead Fest, but the vid will be used during the two weeks prior to the fest on the Village screen during weekend intros – people will see it on the big screen! So get your quotes ready, your visuals set and your titles at full capacity – may the best boomstick man or woman win!
