What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there's nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer. If the director’s name sounds familiar, it may be because he co-wrote GRAVITY with his father, Alfonso Cuaron. I’m curious to see if Jonas is a chip off the old block, but DESIERTO is a very different kind of movie than the usual Alfonso fare. This reminds me of those kinds of thrillers you’d find on late-night TV, which can really go either way! In Cuaron’s case, I’m willing to give the family name a shot. Besides, Jeffrey Dean Morgan has already solidified his badass status. Is it too early to petition for a prequel featuring just him and his pup?
