Exclusive: New clip from Disney/Pixar’s Brave features Merida and the blue wisps

In preparation for Disney/Pixar’s BRAVE opening this weekend, we have an exclusive clip featuring Merida (voiced by Boardwalk Empire’s Kelly Macdonald) on her horse, Angus, racing headlong into her first meeting with the blue forest wisps.  We’ve seen quite a bit of footage in the numerous spots and clips already and this one is no less entertaining.

Grab the reins:

After the disappointment of CARS 2 last summer I am really excited to see Pixar back on top of it’s game, and I think BRAVE has got all the ingredients to be a welcome addition to their brand.  I also think it’s great that they’re focusing on human characters this time out, which is a break from the usual high-concept anthropamorphic aspect of their films (although there’s really nothing wrong with that, either).

For those of us out there with kids, movies like BRAVE make taking our youngsters to the movies much less painful and I’m personally looking forward to seeing this over the weekend with my son (nevermind that he calls the movie “Hawkeye”), rather than being subjugated to another round of Chipmunks or dancing penguins.

BRAVE gallops into theaters this Friday, June 22, 2012.
