Exclusive: Tristan Risk, Bill Oberst Jr. discuss Gut director Elias’s Ayla

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

AYLA, a supernatural thriller coming from GUT writer/director Elias, is a project we've been keeping an eye on for a couple months now. As it enters the home stretch of its Kickstarter campaign, the filmmaker has gotten in contact with us to share two videos of cast members talking about the material and their roles within it.

The first video features AMERICAN MARY's Tristan Risk, who will be playing Ayla herself.

The second video is an Arrow in the Head exclusive in which the incredibly prolific Bill Oberst Jr. discusses loss, death, and the appeal of the horror genre.

Loss, death, and horror are all components in the story of AYLA:

The unexplained death of Elton's 4-year-old sister Ayla has left him lost and damaged since he was a boy. All throughout adulthood he's mourned the life with her that could have been.

Born from his need, Elton turns what lived only in mind to flesh and blood once more, a child now reborn with the body of a woman — obsession become flesh. Her name is Ayla, but they used to call her "A."

In addition to Risk and Oberst, the film's cast includes Nicholas Wilder, Miles Joris-Peyrafitte, Andrew Sensenig, and Jennifer Lynn Warren.

With 8 days left to go in its campaign, AYLA hasn't quite reached its $30,000 goal yet, but it's getting close – as of this writing, $23,461 has been pledged. If the story and talent involved appeal to you, you can help make AYLA happen right here.
