Exorcist: Big News!

“Holy shite”, the unflappable Stellan Skarsgard seems to be thinking in the picture above. Well no wonder. How’s this for unexpected news? Paul Schrader’s cut of THE EXORCIST: THE BEGININNG is going to get a theatrical release. WTF?!

Morgan Creek spoke to Moviehole.net and told them the following: “Paul is currently in post-production on the movie, as we’re anticipating a limited theatrical release here in the United States sometime in 2005.”

Now my head’s spinning. We actually get to see Schrader’s version on the big screen? Sweet! Is it possible that a movie studio actually listened to genre fans and is making an effort to give us what we want? Guess we’ll have to forgive them for leaving it off the upcoming DVD release.

As long as they don’t try to get Schrader to deliver a PG-13 cut of the film, Morgan Creek is going to earn some serious good will from horror fans.
