Last month we got wind of what Oren Peli, director of PARANORMAL ACTIVITY and producer of INSIDIOUS , has got next on his directorial docket: a ghost town thriller that is currently untitled. The synopsis available was brief – it’s a tale of friends who discover they are not alone after they become stranded in a ghost town overrun by nature – but now thanks to production company FilmNation’s official website, we’ve got a bit more to go on. Read on:

Oren Peli, creator of Paranormal Activity, Insidious and the upcoming Area 51 brings us a new and entirely compelling vision of terror.

A group of friends become stranded in an eerie and desolate city. Years before in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, nature has begun to reclaim everything. As the sun sets on this radioactive ghost town, inhuman cries cut through the night air. It seems they are not alone.

So Peli has gone post-apocalyptic and combined it with a story of nature run amok and included hints of the supernatural. Pretty damned intriguing, wouldn’t you agree?

The project is currently in pre-production. In the meantime, we’ve got lots coming up from Peli: His ABC series “The River” premieres in the Fall, and his extraterrestrial found footage horror flick AREA 51 is due sometime next year. He’s also a producer on Rob Zombie’s THE LORDS OF SALEM and Barry Levinson’s THE BAY.
