Starting today, folks buying a Fandango movie ticket to Christopher Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR will be entered for a chance to win a trip to the frontier of space on XCOR’s Lynx Mark II spacecraft. The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, worth $100,000, is being made possible through a unique partnership between Fandango, Paramount Pictures, rocket engine and spaceflight development company, XCOR Aerospace, and Motherboard, VICE’s online channel dedicated to the intersection of technology, science and culture. Yes, you read that correctly. One grand prize-winner will receive a seat aboard the XCOR Lynx Mark II spacecraft, reaching an altitude of 100 kilometers/62 miles. Also included in the package are 4g simulator training, and hotel accommodations and round-trip travel to the XCOR spaceport in Mojave, California. The sweepstakes entry period ends on December 1, 2014 and you can check out all of the fine print here.

Simultaneously, AMC is running a promotion that will bring the Interstellar Oculus Rift experience to one lucky theater. The AMC IMAX location that sells the most tickets by November 4th will have the INTERSTELLAR Oculus Rift DK2 Experience for three days during the week of November 24th, 2014. In the simulation, users will sit down, strap in, and travel in the spacecraft featured in the film in zero gravity.  In order to partake in this contest, you can order your tickets here.  I have a feeling there will be a lot of folks checking out Christopher Nolan's latest, so you might as well take part in one of these contests.  After all, someone has to win, right?

INTERSTELLAR opens in all theaters on November 7, or you can catch the flick early on November 5 if you seek out a film screening.
