Explicit Fear?

I’ve been dubious about NBC’s FEAR ITSELF ever since it was announced. I mean, MASTERS OF HORROR barely worked on pay-cable, why would it succeed on broadcast television? Nevertheless, the series – premiering on June 5 – has racked up many interesting participants like Darren Lynn Bousman, John Landis, Mary Harron, among others… One of those others is Stuart Gordon, whose entry, EATER, kicks off the series. Gordon spoke with ShockTillYouDrop recently, and had the surprising news that his episode manages to be pretty explicit – by any standards.

Here’s a snippet from the interview: “It’s funny because it was going to NBC and I thought we would have to cut out all of the gore and mayhem. I showed the rough cut to my wife and she said, ‘They’re never going to show this on television.’ And they will.”

Well, that’s good news. Not that gore and mayhem a successful horror tale make, but the biggest fear generated from this series was that it would be, for lack of a better word, ball-less. It would appear that may not be the case (at least with Mr. Gordon’s entry)…
