Back in November of 2021, Marvel Studios announced they were making an animated Spider-Man series for the Disney+ streaming service that would be called Spider-Man: Freshman Year (with a second season that would be called Spider-Man: Sophomore Year). Now they’ve revealed that the show has undergone a title change and will instead be known as Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Along with that title change information, they have also announced that they’re making a Black Panther spin-off animated series for Disney+ that will be called Eyes of Wakanda!

This news came out of a press screening for the first two episodes of What If…? season 2, which is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on December 22nd. SuperHeroHype reports that attendees were shown a sneak peek of Marvel’s 2024 slate of Disney+ animated shows, and that line-up included Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Eyes of Wakanda, and X-Men ’97. Marvel also reiterated that What If…? season 3 is already in the works.

Created by Beau DeMayo, X-Men ’97 is a continuation of the X-Men: The Animated Series that ran from 1992 to ’97, and will pick up where that show left off.

IGN reports that Eyes of Wakanda has the following description: Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man isn’t set within the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, but in an alternative universe where Norman Osborn is Peter Parker’s mentor. Hudson Thames is providing the voice of Peter Parker / Spider-Man and is joined in the cast by Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Paul F. Tompkins as Bentley Wittman, Eugene Byrd as Lonnie Lincoln, Grace Song as Nico Minoru, Hugh Dancy as Doctor Octopus, Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May, and Zeno Robinson as Harry Osborn.

According to SuperHeroHype, Peter’s friends on the show will include Nico Minoru, Lonnie Lincoln, Amadeus Cho, Harry Osborn, Pearl Pangan, and Jean Foucault. We’ll also get to see Spider-Man face off with villains like Unicorn, Chameleon, Scorpion, Speed Demon, Tarantula, the Rhino, Butane, Carmela Black, and Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus.

What do you think of Marvel’s 2024 line-up of animated series? Are you interested in Eyes of Wakanda, X-Men ’97, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and/or What If…? seasons 2 and 3? Do you prefer the title Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man over Spider-Man: Freshman Year and Spider-Man: Sophomore Year? Let us know by leaving a comment below.
