Just when you though it was safe to say that the FRIDAY THE 13TH remake was dead in the water and we could get on with our lives, along comes Bloody-Disgusting with news from Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors about the project.
Turns out that the New Line/Platinum Dunes project is still alive. According to a B-D reader, at the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE: THE BEGINNING panel, Andrew Form (producer of not only THE BEGINNING, but also the producer behind THE HITCHER remake and the F13 remake) stated that the film is still tied up in courts with Paramount over the name, but should be in theatres by July 2007.
As well, Form stated that he will fight “to the bitter end” to make sure the film is released with an R rating, with none of that “PG-13 bullsh*t” for Mr. Voorhees. At least the film is being made with the best intentions in that category, at least. Hopefully more news comes of this, as it just wouldn’t be summer out in the woods without ol’ hockey puss roaming around.
