F13th casting breakdown

Bloody Disgusting’s got a major FRIDAY THE 13th remake scoop – the casting breakdown for the principle cast (13 in all! Coincidence?!). It’s pretty much exactly what you’d expect: 13 assorted archetypes like “the strong, pretty girl,” “the rich jerk,” “the chubby guy,” “the black guy,” and a dude whose major character trait is that he wears a t-shirt that says “F**K Christmas.” If you’ve got one of those shirts, submit your headshot bro!

The lone surprise is that most of them are, or will be, in their mid-20s. Not the typical batch of “teens” in other words. Although I guess it’s possible that they’re casting 27 year olds to play 17 year olds. Wouldn’t be the first time…

It appears this Michael Bay-produced flick is shooting in Austin, Texas, which means it’ll be even more like the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE remake than I’d previously thought. (I know that movie has its defenders, but I am absolutely not one of them.) FRIDAY THE 13th does NOT need the dark, ugly, brooding treatment that TCM received – it should be a bloody fun time. That’s why I wish Marcus Nispel hadn’t been brought on to direct. If it’s keeping in Platinum Dunes previous films, it’ll be about as fun as being slammed into a tree trunk while in a sleeping bag… Oh well, who cares what a genuine fan of the series thinks…
