F9: The Originals featurette drives at top speed down memory lane

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Universal Pictures has unleashed a brand new F9 featurette that takes us all the way back to the franchise's humble beginnings. Made up of interview footage from the first film as well as the chapters that followed, the new promo will make you want to crack a Corona and gather your found family for a bar-b-que. The promo features Fast stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Sung Kang, and the late Paul Walker, each looking baby-faced and eager to make sequels. Little did they know that the franchise would one day become a pop culture phenomenon. It's all a part of Universal's big push for the next installment of The Fast Saga, which sees series veteran Justin Lin back behind the camera.

In F9: The Fast Saga, Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob (John Cena).

Returning to the Fast & Furious scene for the latest logic-defying thrill ride is cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang, with Kurt Russell, Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Oscar winner Charlize Theron. The latest chapter also features newcomers John Cena and Cardi B, who star as Jakob and Leysa, a new character tied to Dom's past, respectively.

F9: The Fast Saga is written by Daniel Casey and Justin Lin from a story by Lin, Casey, and Alfredo Botello.  Meanwhile, Neal H. Mortiz, Diesel, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Joe Roth, Justin Lin, Clayton Townsend, and Samantha Vincent all serve as producers.

After several delays, F9: The Fast Saga will finally race into theaters on June 25th.
