The sales, distribution, and production company Alief picked up the worldwide rights to the psychological thriller Failure!, starring Ted Raimi, at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, and now they have announced that the film is going to have its world premiere at the FrightFest film festival in London on August 28th! In anticipation of the premiere, a teaser trailer for Failure! has been unveiled and can be seen in the embed above.

Directed by Alex Kahuam (Forgiveness), Failure! was shot in a single 87 minute take. Within that single take we follow business tycoon James (Raimi), a loving family man who has a crushing bank debt which he must resolve within an hour or lose his business. Greedy associates, back-stabbing friends and even ghosts from his past, all force him to choose between financial ruin… or murder.

Raimi is joined in the cast by Merrick McCartha (Senior Year), Melissa Diaz (Ruthless), John Paul Medrano (Seven Days), Daniel Kuhlman (Voodoo MacBeth), and Noel Douglas Orput (The Black Knight Returns).

A press release notes that Kahuam and Raimi produced Failure! alongside Marco De Molina, Kayli Fortun, and Jose D. Rodriguez via Kahuam’s Promotora NAE and De Molina’s Spacebrain Entertainment.

Raimi provided the following statement: “Insanely excited to show British audiences this film — I really am — as I’m mostly known to my fans as ‘the horror guy’. I’m proud of that, but this movie is going to show a different side of me that the fans will really dig. Also, it’s at FrightFest, the biggest horror and thriller event in the UK — my kind of moviegoers!

FrightFest’s Paul McEvoy says, “Ted Raimi is sensational in the central role giving a tour de force performance. A dark thriller with an underlying sadness and desperation, Failure! perfectly reflects the mood of our contemporary times.

Alief’s Miguel Angel Govea added, “Filming a one-take is so ambitious that only a handful of directors have ever dared make their movie in one continuous, unbroken shot. And the latest attempt by Alex Kahuam Failure! is everything but… And boy did he nail it. Joining the ranks of Béla Tarr, Mike Figgis, Sam Mendes and Alejandro González Iñárritu among the successful.

FrightFest will be running from Thursday, August 24th through Monday, August 28th. Tickets are available at THIS LINK.

In addition to the teaser trailer, a poster for Failure! has also been unveiled, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article. It features Raimi holding a chess piece, which brings to mind his time on Twin Peaks.
