Fassbender and Ferguson track a killer in The Snowman trailer

A trailer has arrived online for THE SNOWMAN, director Tomas Alfredson’s adaptation of the Jo Nesbø bestseller, and its visuals and creepy tone have made me very hyped for this film. It helps that the last time Alfredson turned a genre novel into a snowbound feature, he managed to make one of my favorite movies of all time: LET THE RIGHT ONE IN.

It also helps that Alfredson managed to assemble such an impressive cast for THE SNOWMAN. The film stars Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Val Kilmer, J.K. Simmons, and Chloë Sevigny.

The synopsis:

When an elite crime squad’s lead detective (Fassbender) investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter, he fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. With the help of a brilliant recruit (Ferguson), the cop must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall.

Martin Scorsese was attached to direct the film at one time and is still involved as an executive producer alongside Alredson, Nesbø, Niclas Salomonsson, Liza Chasin, and Amelia Granger. THE SNOWMAN was produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Robyn Slovo, and Piodor Gustafsson.

Universal Pictures will be releasing the film on October 20th. I have high hopes for this one.
