Is NBCUniversal finally turning the ignition over on Fast Forever, the last film in the mainline Fast & Furious franchise? According to Vin Diesel‘s latest Instagram post, that’s exactly what’s happening. Two days ago, Diesel quietly filmed a video he later posted to his social accounts, marking, what he says, is the start of filming for Fast Forever. The video, shot inside a garage, shows several people milling about while Dominic Toretto’s Cruiser is parked, patiently waiting for someone to turn the key one last time.
Diesel says filming for Fast Forever has officially begun
“I’m on set,” Diesel says while introducing the video. “People are grinding. Incredible crews are working. I want to take a second to say thank you. You guys are the best audience in the world. The best fans in the world. You’ve been patient with the industry. You’ve been patient to the studio, and you’ve been patient with me,” Diesel continues, with gratitude. “Over a packed three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try and make the most amazing finale. At times, I’ve been lucky to embark on other characters like Kaulder and Riddick, or write the script I’m so excited about for Rock’Em Sock’Em Robots: From the Top. Through it all, one thing I know is I can feel your support, and that means the world to me. So, let me get back to this filming, and know that I hope to make you all proud.”

Is Fast Forever really geared up and ready to hit the road?
While Diesel’s video suggests that Fast Forever is in full swing, other elements of the finale’s development raise more than a few questions. According to IMDB, Louis Leterrier, who helmed 2023’s Fast X, is returning to direct Fast Forever, while several familiar faces are reportedly reprising their roles, including Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, Dwayne Johnson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris. Still, while this information seems like a no-brainer, it’s odd that major publications aren’t making a bigger deal out of the film’s production start. Fast Forever carries enough anticipation, drama, and mystery that news media outlets would normally be all over the film, actually rolling cameras. So, what gives? Is Fast Forver off to a quiet start? Is the Fourth of July weekend eating up the spotlight? Are the press gearing up for a big announcement? Only time will tell. For now, Fast Forever looks as if it’s tuning up with Diesel and his crew, getting to work.
