Lost in Space Netflix

I haven't been paying much attention to the upcoming Netflix series Lost in Space, which is par for the course for me when it comes to the Lost in Space franchise. Although I'm very familiar with the idea of a robot saying "Danger, Will Robinson!", I haven't actually watched the original 1965 – 1968 Lost in Space TV series,  and if I ever watched the 1998 film I don't remember doing so. (But I appreciated that it finally knocked TITANIC out of the #1 spot at the weekend box office when it was released.)

I did just watch the behind-the-scenes featurette embedded below, which gives a glimpse of moments from the Netflix series and has the cast discussing the show. There is some stunning imagery on display in there; this looks like a big budget blockbuster rather than a TV show.

The first season of the new Lost in Space consists of 10 episodes and will be available for viewing worldwide through Netflix as of April 13th.

Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, light-years from their original destination. Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West is a highly-skilled, blue-collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.

The Robinsons are played by Toby Stephens, Molly Parker, Taylor Russell, Mina Sundwall, and Max Jenkins. Ignacio Serricchio plays Don West, with Parker Posey taking on the role of Dr. Smith.

Check out the featurette below and decide whether or not you want to add Lost in Space to your Netflix list.
