While there are plenty of reasons to fear that which dwells in the White House, it's been announced that DON'T BREATHE director Fede Alvarez is about to give us one more reason to want to move to Canada.

As per today's announcement, Alvarez is teaming with Legedary Pictures for an untitled White House horror film that's bound to remind cinephiles of Kubrick's Stephen King classic, THE SHINING. Alvarez will direct the governmental ghoulfest from a script penned by Joe Epstein, which is being set up as a production of Bad Hombre Films, the director-producer's own film studio. The new and presidential project comes as part of an overall deal with Alvarez and his writing partner Rodolfo Sayagues to create, develop and produce feature films through their Bad Hombre Films. In addition to the White House horror project, Bad Hombre is also producing a reboot of Tobe Hooper's 1974 horror masterpiece THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. Serving as writer on the Leatherface-led project will be Chris Thomas Devlin.

"We are looking forward to sparking a new and meaningful relationship with a powerhouse like Legendary. The imprint and wisdom they have is second to none, and we look forward to adding new titles to their incredible library," said Alvarez about joining forces with Legendary.

While DON'T BREATHE is assuredly one of Alvarez's most notable works, I'll remind you all that the filmmaker also helmed the 2013 remake of EVIL DEAD. Say what you will about the sacrilege of remaking Sam Raimi's horror classic, but I think that Alvarez's version of the haunted house story was a bloody good time. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that you check it out. It's gross, over-the-top, and positively terrifying in more than a few instances. In other words, it's good times.
