As she continues to prove that “ugly” can be more than just parody on network television, America Ferrera’s film career is beginning to gain some steam. She’s recently been contracted to star in the drama AN INVISIBLE SIGN OF MY OWN. Based on Aimee Bender’s novel, which WEDDING PLANNER writers Michael Ellis and Pamela Falk adapted, MAD HOT BALLROOM helmer Marilyn Agrelo will direct a story centering on a young math teacher (Ferrera) who uses math to help her students through their personal trials, similarly to how math helped her through her own problems as a child. Production is expected to begin in the summer when Ferrera has a break from “Ugly Betty”. She can next be seen trying on some more magic pants in SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS 2: FOR WHOM THE PANTS TOLL.
