It’s been almost two weeks since we’ve heard any casting news for Rob Zombie’s THE LORDS OF SALEM. That’s a long time people. Especially considering we were getting LORDS OF SALEM updates practically every day just a month ago. I suppose we can chalk that up to the film actually being in production now.
But that doesn’t mean Zombie is going to stop casting! Over at his Facebook page the rocker/filmmaker dropped the word that the great Sid Haig is the newest name to join the project, Haig being a frequent Zombie collaborator of course. Check out Zombie’s post:
Hurray for Captain Salem! Yep, Sid Haig has joined the cast of THE LORDS OF SALEM as Dean Magnus the other half of the witchfinding duo known as The Brothers.
Sid is best known for cult classics like Spiderbaby, Coffy, Black Mama, White Mama, CC and Company, The Big Dollhouse, The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto, Halloween and of course he is loved world wide as everyone’s favorite killer clown Captain Spaulding in House Of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects.
So Haig will be playing a Witch-hunter? I can dig it. The genre vet joins a growing cast that includes Judy Geesonn, Bruce Davidson, Christopher Knight, Ken Foree, Billy Drago, Richard Lynch, John Five, Lisa Marie, Maria Conchita Alonso, Dee Wallace, Sheri Moon Zombie (below), Meg Foster, Ernest Thomas, Barbara Crampton and Jeff Daniel Phillips
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the “Big H Radio Team”.
A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.
The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.
With LORDS OF SALEM currently filming I’m sure more updates on this one are right around the corner so be sure to check back soon!
