Fincher’s Metal out of a home

David Fincher got about 738 projects on his plate at the moment, one of which is a remake of the crazed animated feature HEAVY METAL, which we last told you about in March. Back then, Paramount Pictures was shepherding the ambitious project, which will consist of about 8 different intertwining segments.

It would seem that is no longer the case. Tim Miller, whose Blur Studio is handling the animation for Fincher, says he and the director are now shopping the movie around to other studios, because Paramount deemed the project too risque for mainstream audiences.

Maybe it’s just me, but Paramount might be surprised to learn we’re living in the 21st Century, and audiences are quite used to all manner of “risque” imagery. Nevertheless, at the moment we’ll have to hope a less conservative studio is willing to give Fincher’s naughty vision of the future a shot.
