First Blood author embarrassed to be associated with Rambo: Last Blood?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Director Adrian Grunberg's RAMBO: LAST BLOOD starring Sylvester Stallone hit theaters last night. And today we're hearing that FIRST BLOOD author David Morrell is not a fan of the new film, going so far as to call it a "mess" and even says he's embarrassed to have his name associated with it.

Ouch.

Morrell tweets:

I agree with these RAMBO: LAST BLOOD reviews. The film is a mess. Embarrassed to have my name associated with it.

"These reviews" he mentions are over on Rotten Tomatoes where the film currently holds a 31% rating with a Critics Consensus which reads: "Like the sequels that preceded it, Rambo: Last Blood is content to indulge in bloody violence at the expense of its main character's once-poignant story."

Oh, come on now, it can't be THAT bad! I don't know about you but I still plan to fork over my hard-earned cash and check out the movie tonight. Reviews and (with all due respect) David Morrell's opinions or not. LAST BLOOD is rated R for strong graphic violence, grisly images, drug use, and language. It's expected to snag $20 million + this weekend. Do YOU plan on seeing LAST BLOOD this weekend? Let us know below!

RAMBO: LAST BLOOD sees:

Vietnam vet John Rambo take on the Mexican drug cartels after the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped.

Avi Lerner’s Millennium is behind the film, which is directed by Adrian Grunberg (GET THE GRINGO) from a screenplay by Matthew Cirulnick (PAID IN FULL). Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon are producing, with Lerner, Trevor Short, and Boaz Davidson exec producing. Stallone's costars include Paz Vega as "Carmen Delgado, a reporter who covers the Mexican drug trade and teams up with Rambo after her younger half-sister is kidnapped," and Yvette Monreal is taking on the role of the younger half-sister in question. It is NOW PLAYING. Buy the badass RAMBO on Blu-ray HERE.
