First image from the Locke and Key series shows Keyhouse Manor

Locke and Key

Earlier this month, Netflix announced that the first season of their series based on the Joe Hill IDW comic book Locke and Key will be arriving on the streaming service on February 7th, and now they have shared the first image from the show.

That image can be seen above, and for those of us who will be experiencing the story of Locke and Key for the first time through this series, it doesn't mean much to us right now. It's a shot of a location called Keyhouse Manor, a place that will mean a lot more to readers of the comic book.

Guided to the screen by Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill, this adaptation is described as "a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family." The synopsis:

After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father’s death. As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens — and will stop at nothing to steal them.

Jackson Robert Scott, Connor Jessup, and Emilia Jones play the Locke siblings Bode, Tyler, and Kinsey. They're joined in the cast by Darby Stanchfield as the Locke siblings' mother Nina, Bill Heck as the ill-fated Rendell Locke, Petrice Jones as Kinsey's horror movie nerd friend Scot, Griffin Gluck as Kinsey's friend Gabe, Thomas Mitchell Barnet as a troubled young man named Sam Lesser, Asha Bromfield as spunky horror nerd Zadie, Kolton Stewart as hockey team captain Brinker Martin, Felix Mallard as the charming Lucas Caravaggio, Eric Graise as Logan Calloway, Sherri Saum as a teacher with a mysterious history, Steven Williams as a teacher who connects with the Locke family, Hallea Jones as Eden Hawkins, Genevieve Kang as Jackie Veda, Laysla De Oliveira as a sinister demon named Dodge, and Kevin Alves as Tyler's friend Javi.
