Jim Jarmusch’s vampire romance ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE gets its first official still today, courtesy of IndieWire. Here you see Tilda Swinton and Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston, having themselves a vampiric cuddle.
LOVERS is about Adam (Tom Hiddleston), an underground musician reunites with his lover for centuries (Tilda Swinton) after he becomes depressed and tired with the direction human society has taken. Their love is interrupted and tested by her wild and uncontrollable little sister (Mia Wasikowska).
Swinton has always struck me as someone who is most likely not 100% human, so this role makes perfect sense to me. As for Hiddleston, his female fanbase just collectively melted learning he’s playing a blood-sucking (probably seductive) musician.
The rest of the film’s impressive cast includes Anton Yelchin and John Hurt. No word on when it’s coming out, but IndieWire guesses that it will make an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in May, and I’m inclined to agree with them.
