First Look: Fred Durst’s The Fanatic starring John Travolta

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Well, it looks like Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst's MOOSE starring John Travolta has some big news today. Not only has the flick changed its title to THE FANATIC (weak) but today we also have a first look at the movie via two new stills and a red-ass poster.

The story is inspired by a real-life fan who pursued Durst many years ago, and the screenplay was written by Durst and Dave Bekerman. It follows

Moose (played by John Travolta), who gets cheated out of meeting his hero, Hunter Dunbar (Devon Sawa; Idle Hands, Final Destination). Moose then hunts down Dunbar to get the celebrity interaction he feels he deserves. Harmless at first, Moose’s actions begin to take a dark turn. Against the advice of his friend Leah (Ana Golja), Moose begins to make frequent visits to his hero’s private home. As the visits continue to escalate, Dunbar finds himself in increasing danger.

That all reported, it looks like the movie might be heading for a bad bit of press here. It turns out that the movie was all set to screen for buyers at Cannes – but then Travolta evidently had the screening canceled because he didn’t like the cut of the film and decided to do a re-edit of the picture himself. That said, there are rumors that Amazon has acquired the film for U.S. release later this year.

I don't know about you but I'm interested in checking out this film if only to see just how bonkers it actually is. Travolta looks like the guy behind you in line at the opening night of that new AVENGERS movie and Durst's directing is worth a look, I guess. After all, the man has an extensive music video career. You can check out the first look pics below along with the poster. Then let us know what you think!
