First photos of Daniel Radcliffe in character as Igor in the upcoming Frankenstein

Filming has begun on Paul McGuigan‘s FRANKENSTEIN starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy. Unlike previous takes on Mary Shelley’s classic novel, this film will be from the perspective of Igor rather than Victor Frankenstein or The Monster. These first set photos show us Radcliffe as the hunchback assistant dressed like a Victorian era pimp.

These images don’t do much to give us an idea as to what will set this FRANKENSTEIN apart from the countless others aside from the point of view change, but Igor doesn’t look like a hunchback here. Yeah, this is between filming, so maybe Radcliffe isn’t showing us his lurching gait, bur it doesn’t even look like there is a prosthetic in the costume. Could we be in store for a totally different Igor than we have become used to?

FRANKENSTEIN will also star Jessica Brown Findlay who is playing a trapeze artist who befriends Igor after he saves her from an accident. Director Paul McGuigan has helmed the superhero movie PUSH, LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN, GANGSTER NO. 1, and WICKER PARK prior to FRANKENSTEIN, so consider me hesitant until I see more from this project. Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy are typically enough to intrigue me, so stay tuned.

FRANKENSTEIN will open January 16, 2015.
