The time-travelling assassin sci-fi actioner LOOPER from director Rian Johnson has begun it’s marketing push, releasing its first poster for the film today.  Starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the film has been generating a lot of positive buzz after screening a trailer at Wondercon last month.

Check out the Loopers:

And here’s the official synopsis:

Time travel will be invented, but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they send their target 30 years into the past, where a “looper”—a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)—is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good. . . until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. the film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels. Ram Bergman and James D. Stern produce.

I’ve been looking forward to seeing how this one turned out.  I loved Rian Johnson’s film, BRICK, and feel that he’s a talented filmmaker.  This is definitely a step up in terms of budget and genre, so I can’t wait to see what he’s got in store for us.  Next week will see a series of character vignettes leading up to the trailer premiere on Thursday, April 12th.

LOOPER time travels to theaters on September 28, 2012.
