Forsyth is John Gacy

Since we can never have too many movies about serial killers, especially of the real-life variety, we’re being treated to yet another biopic about a particularly unsavory human being – John Wayne Gacy. The producer of MONSTER (which won an Oscar for its star, Charlize Theron) is prepping DEAR MR. GACY, with William Forsyth (pictured) set to play the overweight psychopath.

This one seems a little different though, as it enters the mind of not only the mad killer, but of a young man fascinated by him as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is based on the memoir “The Last Victim” by Jason Moss, who began corresponding with Gacy in 1994, the last year of the killer’s life. Moss eventually met Gacy on Death Row and even narrowly escaped an attack by him… His book has been described by critics as a real-life “Silence of the Lambs.”

Jesse Moss will play Jason Moss (I’m assuming there’s no relation) and the film will be helmed by European director Svetozar Ristovski. Shooting begins in Vancouver this month.

Incidentally, a few years ago there was another film about Gacy, which starred Mark Holton (PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE) as the loving father, husband and serial killer. It’s actually a pretty decent little flick, and recommended by yours truly.
