Oz the Great and Powerful poster slice

I still don’t know what to think about OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL. At all. The first trailer sufficiently wowed me, but I also (like most of you) loathed ALICE IN WONDERLAND beyond all possible description.  And as intriguing as Sam Raimi’s visual mind/storytelling capability is, too much of the “CGI Wonderland” effect is going to sink whatever great acting/character work the main stars (and creature stunt people) are putting in to the project.

I also can’t help but still wish we had Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role, but then again, if the movie turns out as we fear it will then it may be better that he skipped out for other projects.

At the end of the day though, there’s only so much judgement that can be done without further evidence to back it up.  I hear that a new trailer will be dropping soon, so in the meantime here are four new photos to tide you over.  OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL comes to cinemas near you in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on March 8th, 2013.
