Fox’s new TV series “Frankenstein” – one of seemingly dozens of Frankenstein projects in the works – has found its pilot director. Deadline reports Michael Cuesta will helm the first episode in the new horror-detective show, which is written and executive produced by Rand Ravich and executive produced by Homeland’s executive producer Howard Gordon.
Cuesta is an Emmy-winning director who has worked on many of TV’s top shows, including “Homeland”, “Dexter”, “True Blood”, among others. Last year he directed Jeremy Renner in the based-on-a-true-story drama KILL THE MESSENGER.
“Frankenstein” centers on Ray Pritchard, a morally corrupt retired cop who is given a second chance at life when he is brought back from the dead. Now younger and stronger, Pritchard will have to choose between his old temptations and his new sense of purpose.
This shouldn’t be confused with “The Frankenstein Chronicles”, which stars Sean Bean as a detective on the case of undead crimes. (That one takes place in the 19th Century… and sounds more interesting.) Meanwhile the movie division of Fox has VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN sitting on a shelf, waiting for an October release.
