Fox’s New Mutants movie will likely feature a few familiar faces

It's been awhile since we've heard anything about it, but things seem to be moving along quite nicely for Fox's NEW MUTANTS movie. The X-Men spinoff already has a director in the form of THE FAULT IN OUR STARS helmer Josh Boone, who is also co-writing the script, and producer Simon Kinberg recently gave an update on the project during an interview with IGN.

Josh Boone and his writing partner are working on the script. They're doing a really nice job of it, and it's a really cool one, because in many ways, like Deadpool was so different from the mainline X-Men movies, New Mutants… It’s maybe not as different as Deadpool, but it has its own unique, original voice to it. That's the fun for me, working in the X-Men universe, creating these sort of standalone movies that have a different vibe to them. And New Mutants has more of a YA [Young Adult] vibe to it.

As for which characters will appear in THE NEW MUTANTS, Kinberg said, “There's a very deep bench. There's a long, long list of names, and I'll tell you some of the names on that list I don't even know. That's how deep it goes.”

The producer went on to say that there's a good chance that some of the mutants from the previous X-Men flicks will also be featured in the film.

Traditionally, the New Mutants have some characters that cross over from the mainline X-Men movies. As we are going, I would say it's likely that you will see some familiar faces.

Who do you think will make up the roster of the New Mutants in the movie, and which X-Men would you like to see appear in the spinoff?

A release date hasn't been announced yet for THE NEW MUTANTS, but X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will hit theaters on May 27, 2016.
