Frankenstein retitled Victor Frankenstein with first synopsis revealed

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The formally titled FRANKENSTEIN directed by Paul McGuigan (PUSH) will now be titled VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN and Twentieth Century Fox has pushed the release date to October of 2015 instead of January. The movie stars James McAvoy as the title character and Daniel Radcliffe as Igor. Paul McGuigan is at the helm of this revisionist take on Mary Shelley's masterpiece, based on a script by Max Landis (CHRONICLE).

Here’s the official synopsis that was just released:

James McAvoy is Victor Von Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe stars as Igor in a unique, never-before-seen twist on Mary Shelley’s classic 19th century novel. Told from Igor’s perspective, we see the troubled young assistant’s dark origins, his redemptive friendship with the young medical student Victor Von Frankenstein, and become eyewitnesses to the emergence of how Frankenstein became the man—and the legend—we know today.

I guess if Rocky and Rambo can go full name, so can Frankenstein. It will be interesting to see the story from Igor’s point of view; every origin story these days is dark as hell so I expect nothing less here. Besides Radcliffe and McAvoy, actress Jessica Brown Findlay (Downton Abbey) is set to play the object of Igor's affection. That should end well.

What hump?

VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN lands on October 2nd, 2015.
