The boys over at Dread Central have tipped us in
the direction of the latest in direct to DVD films from Asylum, this one called
FREAKSHOW. And to go along with that tip, a link to check out the trailer for
the film which is being hosted on YouTube.
The synopsis of the film is : Set in the 1930’s,
Freakshow is about a group of thieves who infiltrate a traveling circus with
plans to rob it. Unfortunately for them, much grotesque carnage awaits the
thieves after they underestimate the sideshow freaks that run this carnival.
However, how anyone would ever know that from the trailer is beyond me.
Definitely a tributary to Tod Browning’s FREAKS, the trailer is just some
footage of actually disabled people and some bizarre mutilation scenes, with a
weird song playing in the background. I’m usually all in favor for films about
freak shows, but I think I may pass this one up.
