With Ash definitely out of the picture for the FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH idea that had been flooding the rumor mill a few weeks back, Moviesonline learned of some promising news coming from New Line Cinemas this week. FREDDY VS JASON 2 is now officially in the works, continuing in classic sequel form as it picks up where the last one left off.

Not only is there a finished script, but shooting is expected to begin this spring with both Ken Kirzinger (Jason) and Robert Englund (Freddy) returning, taking another stab at the rolls that have made them famous. As of right now, no word on whether director Ronny Yu will return, and considering he didn’t return for SEED OF CHUCKY, my guess is he’s not coming back for this one (prove me wrong Ronny!).

After a week of news about remaking THE EVIL DEAD, it’s about time we hear something as exciting as this. In a way, remaking THE EVIL DEAD probably lead to the accelerated decision to go ahead with FvsJ2- so at least something good came out of it! We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about details of this long awaited sequel.
