Wanna see Fred Krueger shred the shite out of MTV airwaves?
With only five weeks from taking the newest stroll down Elm Street, a cool little promo tie-in to help pimp the Platinum Dunes re-launch has just come our way via STYD. In a bit of nostalgic marketing, what he have below is something that used to go down during the apogee of Fred Krueger’s popularity. What is that, you ask? A TV gimmick where Krueger himself slices through the screen to interrupt “regular programming.” After the TV spot wraps up, we’re thrust back into the commercial’s original content. Ah hell, just cop a look below!
The “interruptions” are said to be ushered in by promotion firm Click 3X, which employed a similar strategy during the marketing run for last year’s STAR TREK. Worked once, but will it twice?
Directed by Samuel Bayer, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET stars Katie Cassidy (below), Kyle Gallner, Rooney Mara, Kellan Lutz, Thomas Dekker, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton, Lia D. Mortensen, Charles E. Tiedje and of course, Jackie Earle Haley as our favorite ill-humored pedophilic burn victim.
Synopsis: A re-imagining of the horror icon Freddy Krueger, a serial-killer who wields a glove with four blades embedded in the fingers and kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality.
Walk ELM STREET on April 30th!
