Friday the 13th: Paramount releasing 8 movie Blu-ray set in August

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We can't get anything new from the Friday the 13th franchise since the first film's producer / director Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller still have everything bogged down with an endless copyright lawsuit, but we sure are getting a steady stream of Blu-ray releases for the old movies. Less than a year after Scream Factory's put the films released by Paramount and New Line Cinema together in one box set (pick up a copy HERE), Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they'll be releasing the eight movies they distributed in the Friday the 13th 8-Movie Collection, which is set to reach store shelves on August 10th. (That's the Tuesday before the next Friday the 13th on the calendar.) The collection can be pre-ordered at THIS LINK.

This release includes

newly remastered versions of the first four films and hours of previously released special features including deleted scenes, making of featurettes and commentaries. The set also includes access to digital copies of all eight movies, including the “uncut” edition of the original Friday the 13th.

The eight films in the collection are: Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part 2, Friday the 13th Part III, Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Friday the 13th: A New Beginning, Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, and Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan.

Paramount also offered a look at the cover for this 8-movie collection, which thankfully looks much better than the newly created artwork they usually slap on their Friday the 13th re-releases. The company previously released an 8-movie F13 Blu-ray collection in 2018; that edition is still available HERE.
