Friday the 13th, Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives, Jason Lives, Screening

Friday the 13th fans will have a chance to watch the fan-favorite sixth installment at the location where it was filmed 35 years ago. It has been announced that Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives will be screened at the actual camp it was filmed at this summer.

The screening will take place at Camp Forest Green in Rutledge, Georgia, and the event will be hosted by On Set Cinema. The screening begins on August 13-15 and again on August 15-17. The event will essentially be a short summer camp experience and you will be joined by Jason Lives director Tom McLoughlin on August 14 for autographs and photo-ops. You can read a full description of the event below:

"This year we’ll be doing 2 back-to-back events and for the first time one of the events will be taking place on Friday the 13th! We’re excited to announce that Jason Lives director Tom McLoughlin will be returning to Camp Blood for the first time since filming took place! He’ll be signing autographs, taking photos with fans on the pier, doing a Q&A after the movie screening, and a filming locations tour of both the Jason Lives cemetery and Camp Crystal Lake / Camp Forest Green! Fans will enjoy an entire weekend of summer camp – shared cabin camping with bunk beds, games (egg toss, corn hole, badminton, tug-of-war, board games, video games and more!), camp fires with friends, roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, watching VHS horror movies on tube TVs, swimming and canoeing in Crystal Lake and of course a complimentary outdoor screening of Jason Lives by the lake – you’ll be able to watch the movie while on the pier or in the water! …but remember campers, Jason will be watching!"

Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives was released on August 1, 1986, and the plot follows Jason Voorhees (CJ Graham) after he is unwittingly resurrected by Tommy Jarvis (Thom Mathews), who was attempting to get rid of his body in order to escape his fear of him. Voorhees returns to Crystal Lake for a new killing while Tommy attempts to stop him once and for all. This film marked the third and final appearance of Tommy Jarvis in the franchise after previously being played by Corey Feldman in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter and John Shepherd in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning. The sixth installment also stars Jennifer Cooke and David Kagen.

Jason Lives grossed $19.4 million on a $3 million budget during its initial release but the sixth installment found more success after its theatrical release. It's considered a fan-favorite of the franchise thanks to its use of meta-humor and action film elements. It was also one of the first in the series to receive some positive notices from critics since the release of the original film. For most fans, it's one of the best sequels of the bunch and its popularity with horror fans endures today.
