Happy, happy day. Harry Knowles over at Ain’t It Cool News reports that while chatting with Stuart Gordon (RE-ANIMATOR) the other day, Gordon mentioned that the lost FROM BEYOND footage had been found.

What lost footage? Why the missing gore-filled minutes that the MPAA required the filmmakers to cut, material that hasn’t been seen in 19 years. However, cut to present day and an industrious or extremely lucky MGM worker bee finds the gem tucked away in an unremarkable film can. Gordon was called in to screen it, and apparently smiled one of the biggest smiles of his life.

While that is cool news, the better news is that as a result, we can now look forward to a restored Director’s Cut DVD of FROM BEYOND being released. Sweet. Not only is it one helluva fun genre treat, but now we can finally have a clear picture when pausing to admire the amazing Barbara Crampton!
