Frozen actor Josh Gad calls for a Star Wars Babu Frik spinoff

**WARNING: MILD RISE OF SKYWALKER SPOILERS AHEAD**

While Baby Yoda may be currently ruling the Internet with his cuteness, you can't discount the pint-sized bundle of "awwwwww" that is Babu Frik. The Anzellan made his debut in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER as a droidsmith who could reprogram almost any droid. In the film, Frik helps reprogram C-3PO in order for Rey, Poe, Finn, and Chewie to track down the Sith Wayfinder that will lead the band of heroes to Exegol.

Although reviews have been decidedly mixed over the cinematic merits of THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, the pocket-sized alien with the soul of Matthew McConaughey has met with overwhelming acceptance from audiences. Celebrities in the industry it seems are not immune to Frik's charms either. Everyone's favorite snowman Josh Gad is a notorious STAR WARS fanboy, and his attempts to gather STAR WARS spoilers from Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac are both hilarious and entertaining. The erstwhile actor of LITTLE MONSTERS has quite the social media presence as well, and recently took to Twitter to express his love for the little guy and his desire for more adventures:

Short, sweet, and to the point. I have to respect a man who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to voice his demands.

This is not the first time in recent memory that a celebrity has called for a STAR WARS spinoff for a minor character. Just last week director John M. Chu requested a Rose Tico show on Disney+. Call me crazy but I believe a Babu Frik spinoff would be more likely and more interesting than a Rose Tico show. If done right it could be a hilarious I.T. Crowd-esque sitcom. Another possibility could be a good old fashioned children's animated series. Babu Frik already has mass appeal with the kiddies so it's not out of the realm of possibility. Disney's already had tremendous success with Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and Star Wars: Resistance so there's no reason a Babu Frik series can't work as well.

Regardless if a Babu Frik show ever comes to fruition, the future of STAR WARS looks bright on television. The first season of The Mandalorian just wrapped with a second season due out this Fall. There's a Cassian Andor series on the way and the much anticipated Obi-Wan television program is set to kick off production this year. Hell there's even been some rumblings about a Darth Bane series. The possibilities at this point are endless.

You can catch Babu Frik in all his droidsmithing glory in STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, currently in theaters.
